Data Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Part-Time Data Engineer to join our dynamic Data & Analytics team in Tokyo, Japan. This onsite role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical data infrastructure projects, working with cutting-edge technologies to build scalable and reliable data solutions. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining robust data pipelines that power our advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives. This position offers a competitive salary range of USD 140,000 – 180,000 per year, commensurate with experience and expertise.

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of data infrastructure. This includes architecting, constructing, and maintaining highly scalable data pipelines using various technologies. You will play a crucial role in ensuring data quality, reliability, and accessibility for our data scientists and analysts, transforming raw data into actionable insights. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be key to understanding data needs and delivering impactful solutions that drive business value.

• Design, develop, and optimize ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and load data from diverse sources into data warehouses and data lakes.
• Build and maintain robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines using programming languages like Python and distributed processing frameworks.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data platforms and implement monitoring and alerting for data anomalies.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and product teams to understand data requirements and deliver data solutions that meet business objectives.
• Optimize data models and schemas for performance, scalability, and ease of use in analytical queries.

We are looking for candidates with a strong foundation in data engineering principles and practical experience. While this is a part-time role, a deep commitment to excellence and problem-solving is essential.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 3+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering, with a strong focus on building and maintaining data pipelines.
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Scala).
• Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and data governance best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
