We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated HR Manager to join our dynamic and globally-focused team. This is a full-time, remote position based in Tokyo, Japan, offering a unique opportunity to shape human resources initiatives for a diverse workforce. The ideal candidate will be a strategic partner, responsible for overseeing all aspects of HR operations within the Japanese market, ensuring compliance, fostering a positive work environment, and driving employee engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with overall business objectives and local Japanese labor laws.
- Manage the end-to-end employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, talent development, and offboarding.
- Provide expert guidance and support to management and employees on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Oversee compensation and benefits administration, ensuring competitive and compliant practices within the Japanese market.
- Handle employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Japanese labor laws and regulations, including social insurance, employment contracts, and working hour regulations.
- Contribute to fostering an inclusive and engaging company culture, even in a remote-first environment.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in an HR Manager role, specifically within Japan.
- Deep understanding and practical experience with Japanese labor law, social security, and payroll regulations.
- Proven ability to manage HR functions independently in a remote work setting.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with fluency in both Japanese (native level) and English (business level).
- Strong ethical compass and commitment to confidentiality.
- Proficiency with HRIS and other HR technologies.
