We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Systems Administrator to join our IT team in a hybrid capacity, based in Chicago, IL. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and security of our IT infrastructure, supporting our dynamic work environment. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong technical foundation, contributing to our operational excellence. This position offers a competitive salary of USD 45,000 – 60,000 / year, commensurate with experience and skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine system monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting across Windows and Linux server environments.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and group policies within Active Directory and other identity management systems.
- Provide technical support for hardware, software, and network issues, escalating complex problems as necessary.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and VPNs.
- Ensure data backup, recovery, and system security protocols are followed and regularly reviewed.
- Document IT procedures, configurations, and inventory to maintain comprehensive knowledge base.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in a Systems Administrator or similar IT support role.
- Proficiency with Windows Server operating systems (e.g., Server 2016, 2019) and familiarity with Linux distributions.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS).
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN) and security best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, strong communication, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
