We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Part-Time Cloud Operations Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this remote role, you will be instrumental in maintaining, optimizing, and automating our cloud infrastructure, primarily hosted on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This position offers the flexibility of part-time hours while allowing you to contribute significantly to our operational excellence and platform reliability. You will work closely with development and engineering teams to ensure our systems are robust, scalable, and secure.
As a Cloud Operations Engineer, you will focus on implementing and managing automation solutions, streamlining CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring the smooth operation of our containerized applications. Your expertise in infrastructure-as-code and configuration management will be vital in reducing manual toil and accelerating deployment cycles. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and reliable infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, and networking services.
- Develop and manage automation scripts and configurations using Ansible to provision and manage cloud resources and application deployments.
- Administer and optimize CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, ensuring efficient and automated software delivery from development to production.
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot containerized applications using Kubernetes and Helm charts.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot incidents, and participate in on-call rotations (potentially on a flexible, scheduled basis for part-time).
- Implement and enforce security best practices across our cloud infrastructure and applications.
- Collaborate with development teams to identify and resolve operational issues and improve system architecture.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure, processes, and operational procedures.
Required Skills & Tools:
- Proven experience as a Cloud Operations Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services (e.g., Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud SQL, VPC, IAM).
- Proficiency in configuration management tools, specifically Ansible.
- Extensive experience with CI/CD tools, particularly Jenkins.
- Solid understanding and practical experience with container orchestration using Kubernetes and Helm.
- Strong scripting skills in languages like Python or Bash.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Stackdriver).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with other infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
- Knowledge of SRE (Site Reliability Engineering) principles and practices.
- Familiarity with database administration (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Certifications in GCP (e.g., Associate Cloud Engineer, Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer).
